Tags: docs documentation fla xfl Lee Brimelow's post from 2010 (http://www.leebrimelow.com/?p=1986) is one of the few posts from Adobe providing details about the XFL format. The article is a fine primer but sparse on details.
It'd be great to get official documentation and an outline of which files are essential for version control. |

If i create a Flash document on my PC, saves it and then opens it on my Mac, alle the fonts in the document will move a bit up or down, depending on which platform the file was last saved on. That means that if i have to work on a flash file created on a PC on my Mac, i will have to reposition all the fonts in the entire document, otherwise they will all be out of place.
This is a big problem for me, as my work computer is a PC and my computer at home is an iMac. And i dont want to install Flash on Windows 7 in bootcamp, i want to be able to use my Mac as a mac when im finally at home! |

Tags: colorspace h.264 video ycgco This colorspace is not derived from PAL/NTSC, but designed for better compressibilty. It also gives a better representation of RGB colors.
This would give Flash Player an edge over the competition and also rid us from R.709 - R.601 confusion. The conversion formula is specified in the H.264 spec (in E.2.1 VUI Parameter Semantics, page 379 in 3/2010 standard). See for more information: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/YCgCo-Farbmodell http://www-ee.uta.edu/dip/Courses/EE5356/YCgCo-Presentation.ppt http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=161736 http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2011-October/116068.html http://patches.libav.org/patch/10749/ A testvideo can be found at: http://www.roelofs-coaching.nl/play/10bit/24uur10bitYCgCo Colors in this video are 10 bit and should look like: http://www.roelofs-coaching.nl/play/10bit/24uur10bit |

Flash needs a public boost. What better way to get young, aspiring game programmers involved with Flash than to offer a lite version of Flash Pro for free? It works well for Microsoft with its Visual Express series. There are a number of companies vying for the top spot in the cross-platform game development crowd. None of them have an IDE like Flash.
A big part of the stigma against Flash is the perception that development with Flash is not free (many people equate "free" with "open"). Most people are unaware of the Flex SDK path, and in any case, that path isn't nearly as appealing to a newcomer. Give them a little something to get them hooked! |

Tags: export fireworks illustrator import Import from PDF (supported in Flash 8 and only Flash 8) and WMA (WMV supported, WMA not supported? Weird); export to WMF (supported in versions prior to CS5) and maybe EPS, AI and FW PNG. Make such functionality available as an extension, and it wouldn't cause users who don't need that any burden. That is going to be saving lots of time by not having to switch to Illustrator or an older version of Flash just to do the import/export thing.
Flash Professional is a versatile piece of software and definitely not limited to making just animations and programs. Why limit its potential? |

Tags: I had a thought after reading that the Flash Player will be killed off due to the emergence of HTML 5 and then after watching the video demonstration of the Wallaby technology convert Flash to editable HTML 5. The problem being as a Flash Platform developer, though flash animation can be converted to HTML 5, Program logic and AS classes cannot and I don't think they should. Actionscript is better and faster than javascript, in my oppinion, and it would be a step backward to have to rely on it. So my idea about Flash Player if possible would be to scale it down to an Actionscript processing plugin that could hook into the HTML 5 created by Wallaby. Another option would be to allow the AIR runtime to somehow process the AS logic for HTML 5 created by Wallaby. Perhaps someone else has already come up with this idea, and if so I fully support this route for the evolution of the Flash Platform for web. I am primarilly a AIR for mobile software eng these days, but I would still li More...

Adobe webpage for colour testing following Flash Player installation, either Internet Explorer or FF
Tags: Adobe could run a webpage which could be looked at, before and after a Flash Player update. It might be easy to integrate elements which would facilitate improved colour display.
